Despite only one of them being a reckless psycho, everyone else mindlessly follows his directions (despite them acknowledging how crazy he is) because no one else has any character! I love books about people with secrets being trapped together as tensions run high. But, he's written as such a mustache twirling villian, you can't take him seriously as a threat. Theres only one "bad" character so the only interesting interactions are with him. its about Six kids who are lost in an rv when a sniper blows out their tires and starts hunting them off until they figure out which of them is hiding something from the others (the motivation for the plan is so contrived and stupid) Five of the kids are EXTREMELY dull because they are all selfless and moral.

I would have hoped Jackson's first non "a good girls guide to murder" book would have played to her strengths (investigation and procedure) but instead this is a very dialogue heavy, character centered story (which are NOT her strengths). Don't waste your time, read "five total strangers"
